Wondering what upgrades and specs lent new weight to these new Ford awards? Read on to discover for yourself.
What is the J. D. Power Initial Quality Study?
The J.D. Power Initial Quality Score study is responsible for measuring vehicle quality by analyzing the first 90 days of ownership by a score of key measures. Now in its 32nd year, the latest study ranked Ford Motor Company No. 2 among all automakers.
They also singled out a wide array of models in the top three of their respective segments, including:
- Ford Expedition
- Ford Mustang
- Ford F-Series Super Duty
How Did Ford Leap So Far Ahead?
2018 marks the Ford brand’s fifth year of improving in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study, and at a rate that’s faster than any industry competitor.
There’s no one single factor that pushed Ford ahead of the competition, but substantial improvements in technology certainly took center stage now that almost all Ford vehicles come equipped with SYNC 3 connectivity technology, which leads its quality segment with quality scores significantly above average.
Ford has also shown considerable improvements in:
- Drive Experience
- Feature Control Displays
- Air Conditioning
The result was more vehicle segment awards than any other automaker.
In the words of Jim VanSlambrouck, Ford’s Director of Quality for The Americas, “Our improving quality scores show we are delivering smart vehicles for a smart world that are also easy to use.”
