Is the Federal EV Tax Credit Expiring?

Who Can Get the Federal EV Tax Credit?
In order to qualify for up to $7,500 in federal EV tax credits, you must complete your eligible Ford EV purchase before September 30, 2025, on top of meeting other requirements.1 Some of these requirements depend on what year the vehicle was placed into service, your adjusted gross income, and other factors. Some of these requirements include:1
- You must buy the vehicle for your own use, not for resale.
- It must be used primarily in the U.S.
- Your modified adjusted gross income (AGI) may not exceed:
- $300,000 for married couples filing jointly
- $225,000 for heads of households
- $150,000 for all other filers
- Qualifying vehicles must:
- Have a battery capacity of at least 7 kilowatt hours.
- Have a gross vehicle weight rating of less than 14,000 pounds.
- Be made by a qualified manufacturer.
- The vehicle must undergo final assembly in North America.
- The vehicle's manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) can't exceed $80,000 for vans, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks or $55,000 for other vehicles.
Is It Too Late to Buy an EV with the Tax Credit?
No! You still have plenty of time to purchase a new Ford EV like the Mustang Mach-E or F-150 Lightning near Magnolia. All that matters is that you complete your purchase before September 30, 2025.1
